Texas Archival Resources Online (TARO) is in the process of self-assessment and redevelopment.
Members of the TARO community have volunteered their time to participate in this process.
Committee charge: Evaluate the needs of TARO as they relate to updating the site, by assessing current best practices, researching peer institutions, conducting user assessments and planning appropriate next steps.
- Short-term goal 2014: TARO to become schema-compliant for new files.
- Medium-term goal 2014-2015: TARO legacy files to be converted from DTD compliance to schema-compliance.
- Medium-term goal 2014-2015: Planning for TARO site updates and future governance
- Long-term goals 2015-2016: Implementing TARO site updates and future governance

- Preparing final versions of surveys to go out to TARO participant repositories, to fellow regional consortia, and on TARO site for researchers
- next Steering Committee meeting - at SSA in New Orleans

- Committees are brainstorming issues relevant to their goals, analyzing legacy TARO xml data, putting together survey questions for TARO users, TARO member repositories and fellow consortia reps, to help fill in our research landscape and set more specific goals.
